Ellis Island, at the mouth of the New York Harbour, was at one time the main entry facility for immigrants entering the United States from 1892 until 1954. It's one of the "must-see" places to visit in New York, and if you go there when it's reasonably quiet - and that's unusual - then you find it an immensely moving place. This music stems from such a visit, and while there isn't much in the piece that will challenge players technically, nevertheless it does present some musical challenges. 4’ 42”
