Trombone Quartet is written for the traditional brass band version of
this chamber grouping. It's a long piece, lasting around seven and a
half minutes, written in a rondo form. There are three contrasting
episodes: a fanfare starts the piece, followed by a bright,
Latin-inspired fast movement. Then comes a fast, modal dance movement
in 3/8 time, leading to a slow, reflective section. The tempo picks up
with repeated thematic material culminating in a restatement of the fanfare
theme. 7’ 32”
